History of the R1

It's hard to believe that the Ruark R1 has been around since 2005, but this little radio has always had what it takes to last. Since its introduction it has barely changed - sure there's been a few tweaks, and back in 2011 it almost lost its identity when the company name changed, but this radio has held its own and continues to be one of the most popular radios on the market. This is the MkII version (sometimes erroneously referred to as the R1i) which was launched in 2011 and offered tweaks and updates to the ever popular R1.

The MkII is being replaced

In 2014 Ruark announched that a new version called the MkIII would launch soon and would replace the MkII. The biggest change would be the addition of Bluetooth to the R1. This is great news if you want Bluetooth - but also great news if you don't as we are now clearing our remaining stock of our MkII models at over 15% off the normal RRP. All are brand new so you'll get a great bargain whilst stocks last.

What we like about the R1

We love its quirky yet stylish looks and the outstanding sound quality. It can be used as a kitchen radio, a bedroom radio (thanks to the dual alarm clock) and with the addition of the optional battery pack can even be used outdoors.

FM and DAB are built in and there is also a 3.5mm input for any other device, plus you can use headphones with it. It's a mono speaker but it sounds fantastic. Take a look at the R2i if you fancy stereo.
