"With it's younger brother the AVR-X2200W taking up so much of the spotlight, it's easy to forget that the AVR-X3200W uses the same basic design but knocks things up a peg or two with more power, better video upscaling and improved audio performance."

Details

If you've already heard about the AVR-X2200 you may well have been tempted to discover what more the AVR-X3200W gives you. There's actually not a huge number of improvements here, but enough to make it worth considering the leap up to this more powerful and better sounding receiver.

On paper there's really not much to spot between the two - some fine detail digging reveals that the upscalinging on 4K in this receiver is also capable of 60fps, but it's clear that the big difference here is in sound. With 7 amplifiers capable of 180W per channel at 6 ohms there's clearly a lot more that's been put into this AV receivers capabilities, but it's sound quality that really differentiates this from its smaller sibling.

Of course, the AVR-X2200W is still an outstanding sub £500 receiver, but the difference in jumping up is very clear. We'd recommend partnering this system with speaker packs from £1000 upwards, in particular the Bowers & Wilkins MT-60D package seems a perfect partner for this high end receiver, capable of delivering the audio improvements this receiver has to offer with ease.

Feature wise there's pretty much everything we can think of here, with DTS:X due to follow in the Autumn via a software update. Out of the box and you won't be missing anything, even Dolby Atmos is covered. The wireless internet connectivity is straightforward too and allows access to a wealth of music online and at home as well as enabling the Denon control pad to be downloaded onto your own Smart phone or tablet computer.
